Ajinkya Rahane officially announced his retirement from international cricket and all forms of the game on July 30, 2026. He enjoyed a successful international career and will always be remembered for leading India to a historic Border-Gavaskar Trophy series victory in Australia in 2020-21.

The veteran hitter posted an emotional message on his official Instagram account, writing, “The reality of life is that everything has a beginning and an end.” When the time comes, you must respect it and proceed.I have always relied on timing in my batting and I have always understood its importance. Today, I believe the time is appropriate for me to declare my retirement from international cricket in all formats.”

As Rahane embarks on a new chapter in his life, here’s an estimate of how much money he would receive as a post-retirement pension from the BCCI.

How much pension will Ajinkya Rahane Get From BCCI?

Ajinkya Rahane will receive a monthly pension of ₹70,000 from the BCCI upon retirement. The amount is paid through the board’s pension system for former international cricketers.

According to the BCCI’s pension policy, any player who has represented India in 25 or more Test matches qualifies for the highest pension level.

Taking a look at Rahane’s career, he has represented India in 85 Test matches, along with 90 ODIs and 20 T20Is over his career.

Earlier, retired cricketers in this category received ₹50,000 per month. The BCCI revised the pension structure in 2022 and increased the amount to ₹70,000.

The BCCI maintains a dedicated welfare system to financially support retired Indian cricketers. The pension program is funded through a structured welfare pool created by the board.

A substantial percentage of the funds come from the Platinum Jubilee Corpus Fund, as well as a separate welfare fund managed by the BCCI.

The IPL also contributes to the scheme by allocating revenue from playoff matches, particularly gate ticket collections, to player welfare.

Apart from BCCI perks, Rahane is also entitled for financial help from the Mumbai Cricket Association because of his domestic cricket experience with Mumbai.

However, current rules prohibit retired players from receiving pensions from both the BCCI and a state cricket organization at the same time.

When Can Ajinkya Rahane’s BCCI Pension Be Paused?

Although Ajinkya Rahane will get a lifetime annuity from the BCCI, there are certain criteria associated to the scheme.

If he accepts an official role with the BCCI, such as joining the coaching staff or taking on an administrative position, his monthly pension will be temporarily suspended. This provision applies only to official salaried positions within the board.
