On September 9, 2026, during the first day of the final Test at Edgbaston, Harry Brook became the fastest English batter to amass 1,000 Test runs against Pakistan. Harry Brook reached the milestone in just 14 innings over nine Tests, outperforming every previous England player.

Harry Brook went unbeaten on 52 from 76 balls, hitting four boundaries, as England finished day one on 156/4 in response to Pakistan’s first-innings total of 133.

His knock left England in a dominating position after their spinners destroyed Pakistan cheaply, giving them a 23-run lead with six wickets in hand.

Harry Brook has 1,033 runs against Pakistan at an average of 79.46 and a strike rate of 89.20 over 14 innings, including four centuries and three fifties.

His highest score of 317 came in the 2024 Multan Test against Pakistan, establishing him as one of his generation’s most devastating batsmen against this opposition.

How does Harry Brook record compare globally?

Only Virender Sehwag and David Warner have scored more over 1,000 runs against Pakistan in fewer innings, with each taking 11. Brook’s 14-inning record positions him among Australia’s Usman Khawaja, who also reached the milestone in 14 innings, highlighting Brook’s great company on the all-time lists.

Harry Brook is the fourth English hitter to reach 1,000 Test runs against Pakistan. Alastair Cook leads the group with 1,719 runs in 20 Tests at an average of 49.11, with five centuries. David Gower scored 1,185 runs in 17 Tests with an average of 49.37, including two centuries.

Brook’s average of 79.46 is comfortably the highest among England hitters in this group, demonstrating his consistency and superiority in this particular game.

How did England’s bowlers establish the day one advantage?

Pakistan were bowled out for 133 in the first innings, with Josh Tongue leading the attack with 4/42. Ollie Robinson took 3/15 and Jofra Archer added 3/25 to round up England’s disciplined and incisive bowling performance, which held Pakistan well below a competitive score on the first day of the series decider.

Saud Shakeel was Pakistan’s most prolific scorer, with 43 off 47 balls and seven fours, while Mohammad Abbas contributed 21 off 36 with four boundaries. No other Pakistani batsman contributed much as the innings ended within the day, providing England’s top order with a solid foundation to build on.

In England’s reply, Emilio Gay top-scored with 60 off 114 balls, including nine fours, before Brook’s unbroken 52 secured England’s victory. A disciplined bowling showing combined with a calculated batting response puts England in a strong position moving into day two at Edgbaston.
