Megan Schutt, a fast bowler from Australia, has been suspended for two games for violating Cricket Australia’s Sports Science and Sports Medicine regulations regarding the use of prescription medications.
Megan Schutt will not participate in Australia’s third and final Twenty20 International match against New Zealand at North Sydney Oval on Thursday, October 22. Furthermore, she will be unable to participate in the Adelaide Strikers’ inaugural Weber WBBL 12 match against the Melbourne Stars on October 31.
Cricket Australia acknowledged the suspension in an official statement and clarified that it was not related to performance enhancement and only occurred during one event that occurred outside of the competition period.
Following the announcement, Megan Schutt made an apology for failing to meet the expectations that were set for Australian cricket players and voluntarily accepted the penalty.
The seasoned pacer also acknowledged that it is her responsibility to adhere to the rules, which are frequently reviewed with the players.
The Australian team is optimistic about achieving a clean victory of the T20I series against New Zealand.
The series has already been won by Australia, as they have won the first two games. Megan Schutt’s suspension precedes their final Twenty20 International match against New Zealand.
