On Sunday, September 27, 2026, at the Greenfield International Stadium in Thiruvananthapuram, Kuldeep Yadav secured four wickets for forty runs in his return to the One-Day International (ODI) format. The West Indies were defeated by India by eight wickets. After the West Indies had reached 295 for seven in their 50 overs, India successfully chased down the mark, scoring 300 for two in 41.4 overs. Kuldeep Yadav bowled ten overs, including one maiden, during the day-night match.
However, the left-arm wrist spinner claimed that Virat Kohli’s batting performance was deserving of greater praise. Kohli led his team to victory with a superb effort, scoring 139 not out off 88 balls in India’s victorious pursuit.
The title of Player of the Match was awarded to Kuldeep Yadav for his exceptional bowling.
Rhythm and variation are the keys to successful bowling.
Kuldeep’s four victims in the match were John Campbell, who scored 62 off 60 deliveries, Shai Hope, who struck 12 off 11, Justin Greaves, who hit 101 off 108, and Jewel Andrew, who left for a duck. The spinner’s performance was a significant return to ODI cricket after a period of limited selection, as he had previously travelled to England with the Indian team for three ODIs in 2026 without participating.
