Hanuma Vihari was surprised to learn that India’s lineup for the three-match Twenty20 International series against Zimbabwe later this month included a few quick bowlers. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) unveiled a 15-man roster for the upcoming tour on Monday, July 6.
One of the obvious absences is Sanju Samson, who has reportedly been rested. However, many believe that Prabhsimran Singh, a much younger wicketkeeper-batter, has replaced him.
However, Hanuma Vihari was surprised to see two fast bowlers in the starting lineup: Yash Thakur and Mayank Yadav.
Mayank has played in three Twenty20 Internationals, the most recent of which was two years ago, while Thakur was called up for the first time.
Hanuma Vihari highlighted Mayank’s struggles with injury and slow pace, as well as Thakur’s poor Indian Premier League (IPL) season. “Mayank Yadav has been brought in.” He didn’t even play many IPL games and is prone to injuries. He didn’t do well in the games he played, but he has improved.

The 24-year-old Mayank failed to claim a wicket in just four IPL 2026 matches. He conceded runs at an economy rate of 11.38. Nevertheless, Thakur only played in one IPL season match in the lucrative league and gave up 55 runs in four overs despite collecting two wickets.
Ashok Sharma and Prince Yadav are a fast-bowling duo in addition to these two. Shivam Dube and Suryansh Shedge are the seam-bowling all-rounders.
The first Twenty20 International is scheduled for July 23 at the Harare Sports Club in Harare, four days after India and England’s third ODI.
