Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma are expected to rejoin India’s ODI squad for the three-match series against the West Indies, which commences on Sunday. The Indian team is eager to regain momentum after a 1-2 series defeat in England in July, and the return of these two senior batsmen is a significant moment in that regard.
Kohli and Sharma’s qualifications for the One-Day International format
Kohli’s ODI record is among the most prolific in the history of international cricket. The right-handed batter has amassed 14,941 runs in 314 ODIs and 302 innings, with an average of 58.59. This includes 54 centuries and 79 fifties. His consistent performance and ability to win matches have established him as a fundamental member of India’s batting lineup in a variety of formats.
Sharma contributes his extensive expertise to the team. The opening batter has amassed 11,895 runs in 288 ODI matches and 280 innings, with an average of 48.95. He has also achieved 34 centuries and 62 fifties. The younger members of the squad can benefit from the combined decades of international experience of both players.
