Rishabh Pant became the fastest batter in Test cricket history to hit 100 sixes on August 18, 2026, during India’s first Test against Sri Lanka at Galle International Stadium. The 28-year-old wicketkeeper-batsman reached the milestone in just 4918 deliveries, easily beating the previous record of 6578 deliveries set by former Australia wicketkeeper Adam Gilchrist.

The timing of the achievement has a strong personal resonance for Pant. On August 18, 2018, he made his Test debut against England in Nottingham, therefore the record occurred exactly eight years to the day after he first donned Indian whites in the longest format.

Rishabh Pant is only the fourth hitter in history to cross the boundary 100 times in Tests, behind Gilchrist, Brendon McCullum, and Ben Stokes. His overall Test record at the time of the milestone was 51 matches, over 3600 runs at a near-44 average, eight centuries, and 20 half-centuries.

How does Rishabh Pant record compare to the other members of the 100-six club?

Rishabh Pant mark differs significantly from those of the other three club members. Pant has already erased Gilchrist’s record, which required 6578 balls to reach the landmark. Stokes required 9042 deliveries, while McCullum needed 9756 balls, making Pant’s 4918-delivery effort the fastest by a long shot.

Stokes now leads all batters with 138 Test sixes. With Pant being only 28 years old, he has plenty of time to close that deficit over the course of his career.

Rishabh Pant has 80 sixes in the ICC World Test Championship, second only to Stokes (88).

Where did Rishabh Pant score his 100 Test sixes?

Rishabh Pant  century of Test sixes has been distributed across multiple conditions and continents, demonstrating his ability to attack in a variety of situations.

In 16 home Tests, he cleared the ropes 41 times. His 28 sixes in England were particularly amazing given the circumstances, and he added 15 more during tours of Australia.

The first Test between India and Sri Lanka is scheduled for August 15-19, 2026, at Galle International Stadium. Pant broke the mark during India’s second innings in the series opener, culminating a Test career that has progressively improved since his debut eight years ago and now ranks among the most destructive batters in the format’s history.
